ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA™: Frequently Asked Questions

ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA is quickly becoming a staple within the multi-family industry. As a single solution for access management, property managers, developers, and residents are turning to ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA for its ease of use and convenience. Prospective customers often ask the same questions about ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA and how it works. Here are our most frequently asked questions; answered.

Am I limited to only ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA products within the system?

No. While only certain ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA and online updaters can configure directly into the ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA system, the online updater can help you control any electrified opening with hardware provided by ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA or other manufacturers. Examples include electric strikes and mag locks to control entry to perimeter entrances or common areas, parking gates, or even elevator call buttons.

How do I handle access for someone who comes once a week?

With ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA, this is easy! The system allows you to grant access to staff or guests for only the days and times that you choose. For example, let's say you have a dog walker that comes from 9:00-11:30 am every Wednesday. You can issue them a card, FOB, or even mobile credential that will only let them in during those times—if they need to switch to another day or time, no problem! Make the change in the system, and if they have a card or FOB, the change will be made in their credential when they visit an online updater next. If they have a mobile credential, the change is instantaneous.

What happens if the power goes out? Do my locks stop working?

With ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA, all of the door locks are battery-powered. Even if there is a building-wide power outage, access to offline door locks will not be affected. The offline door locks do not rely on building power or the internet to make decisions. Most buildings have battery backups on doors controlled by online updaters. If primary power is interrupted, the battery backup kicks in, allowing the online updater to grant access to valid credentials.

Can I use different access credentials?

Absolutely! ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA offers ultimate flexibility in the way you choose to enter a door. You can use physical cards or FOBS, keys, or mobile credentials to access any door in the building. System users can even receive multiple types; for instance, you primarily use your mobile phone as a credential and want a card or FOB or both as a backup; this is all possible with ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA. In addition to cards, FOBs, and mobile access, offline door locks also offer emergency One Time PIN codes and physical keys as a means to get in. Online updaters can be unlocked remotely or on a schedule, so users may not need a credential at all!

What types of doors can I manage?

With ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA, you can manage every opening in a multi-family property—the apartment door, utility closets, main entrances, parking gates, elevators, office doors, storage areas, and more! This convenience is all possible because of ASSA ABLOY ACCENTRA's broad range of door hardware and the flexibility of the online updater, which allows you to control any electrified opening.
