ThermaGuard™ Glass Entrance System

ThermaGuard™ Glass Entrance System

Improve the energy efficiency and the overall sustainability of your facility with our ThermaGuard entrance system.

ThermaGuard Glass Entrance System

The ThermaGuard Glass Entrance System is a solution for glass entrance doors that is designed to provide thermal insulation and energy efficiency.

The system features a unique thermal break technology that helps reduce heat transfer between the inside and outside of the building, which can help to decrease heating and cooling costs. Additionally, the system is designed to be durable and secure, making it suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial applications.

Importance of Energy Efficiency in Buildings

- Environmentally responsible

- Saves money

What is an NFRC Rating?

An NFRC rating is a certification that is provided by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) for windows, doors, and skylights. The rating system is used to measure the energy efficiency of fenestration products and it provides a standard way to compare the performance of different products.

The rating system is based on three primary ratings: U-Factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), and Visible Transmittance (VT).

U-Factor measures the rate of heat loss through the product, the lower the value, the better the product insulates. SHGC measures the amount of solar radiation that enters a building through the product, the lower the value, the less heat is gained. VT measures the amount of light that is transmitted through the product, the higher the value, the more light is let in.

When a product receives an NFRC rating, it means that it has been tested and certified by the NFRC to meet its standards for energy efficiency and that it has passed rigorous testing procedures. It is important to look for an NFRC rating when purchasing windows, doors, or skylights, as it ensures that the product meets certain energy efficiency standards.

ThermaGuard Certifications

Our ThermaGuard glass entrance system was tested to the following certifications:

• NFRC 102-2020 - Procedure for measuring the rate of heat transfer of fenestration systems. The standard provides a method for determining U-Factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), and Visible Transmittance (VT) ratings for fenestration products.

These ratings are used to evaluate the energy efficiency of the product.

NFRC 102 is a widely recognized industry standard and is referenced in many building codes and regulations. It is intended to provide a consistent, independent measure of fenestration product performance for use by building professionals, manufacturers, and consumers.

AAMA 1503-09 - Test method for determining condensation resistance of doors.

The standard evaluates the performance of entrance systems by subjecting them to a series of tests that simulate real-world conditions. The tests are designed to measure the system's ability to resist the infiltration of air, water, and structural loads, as well as its ability to resist forced entry.

AAMA 1503-09 is intended to provide a consistent, independent measure of entrance systems performance for use by building professionals, manufacturers, and consumers. It is widely recognized by the industry and is referenced in many building codes and regulations.

ASTM E283/E283M-19 - Test method for determining rate of air leakage through doors.

The standard provides a method for determining the air leakage rate of a fenestration product, which is a measure of how much air can pass through the product when it is installed in a building.

The standard evaluates the performance of a fenestration product by subjecting it to a series of tests that measure the rate of air leakage through the product. The tests are designed to simulate real-world conditions and are conducted in a laboratory. The tests are performed by pressurizing a test chamber on one side of the product while measuring the amount of air that leaks through the product.

ThermaGuard Products

In order to have a completely energy efficient entrance system, you will need the following products.

Vertical Stiles

Vertical stiles seal door gaps on vertical sides of all glass door openings.

Vertical stiles can provide weatherization by helping to create a tight seal around the edges of a door, which prevents unwanted air flow through the door.

Many entrance systems use weatherstripping to seal the gap between the door and the frame. Vertical stiles allow the seal to be more efficient and tighter, which helps to prevent drafts and reduce the amount of air infiltration. This can help to reduce heating and cooling costs as well as improve indoor air quality.

Features:

- Seals door gaps on vertical sides of opening

- Provides weatherization

- Diminishes unwanted airflow

- Dry glaze design

4" Tapered Door Rails

Door rails work in conjunction with the vertical stiles to create a tight seal around the edges of the door, preventing drafts and leaks.

Features:

- Dry glaze pre-assembled mechanical rails

- One-piece compression system

- Adjustable blocking provides left to right field alignment

- Meets ADA requirements

Solid 2” x 6” Header

Headers conceal hardware for glass door systems. Headers are an integral component of glass door entrance systems, providing both structural support and aesthetic appeal. The header creates a seal between the door and the frame, preventing drafts and air leakage.

Features:

- Solid tube header

- Mounting brackets and clips come pre-installed

- Prepped by machining centers

Compatible Parts

PDU8000 Panic Device

Our PDU8000 Panic Device ensures that the door always stays latched when it is closed. This is necessary not only for security reasons, but it also limits the amount of air traveling through the door.

Features:

• Top latching panic device with easy align security latch

• Engraved latch lines ensure proper engagement with strike

• Post-mount design suites with Rockwood architectural pulls

• Keyed and non-keyed options

• Six standard exterior pull options

• Dogging feature

• Engraved push area and boundary grooves allow for enhanced visibility and tactility

• Dummy version available for matching aesthetics (DDU8000)

ThermaGuard Sustainability

At ASSA ABLOY, we put a lot of thought into the mechanics of our doors, but we also care about how our doors are made.

GreenCircle Certified: an independent, third-party verifier of sustainability claims – evaluated our glass door rails and certified that a minimum of 15% of pre-and post-consumer materials are recycled content.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD): An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) reports the environmental data of products, based on their life cycle assessment (LCA). An EPD provides transparency about products and can communicate their environmental improvement over a period of time. EPDs are available for our door rails, vertical stiles, solid header, and panic device.
