New Safety Benefits with Medeco CLIQ
As we head into National Crime Prevention month, Medeco has unveiled three new features of its CLIQ intelligent keys – Sequence Lock, Delay Lock, and Online Open. As you’ll see below, each of these features has unique capabilities that can help keep people, materials, facilities, and other valuables safe and secure.
The Benefits of Double-Verification
Let’s start with the Sequence Lock feature. This is essentially double-verification. It requires two valid and uniquely identified CLIQ keys to unlock a cylinder. After the first key is inserted, a second key must be inserted within a minute to successfully unlock the lock.
Think of a safety deposit box at a bank. In addition to the key that you have to insert, a bank manager or other bank employee must insert their key as well open the box. The CLIQ Sequence Lock is much the same, but in an intelligent key format. It’s also follows the same idea as multi-factor authentication in the cybersecurity world. To gain access you need a password or PIN, then a badge, then even maybe a fingerprint. CLIQ Sequence Locking works much the same way.
Think of applications that require more than one person to unlock an opening, or where solo access is a really bad idea. Toxic chemicals, biohazards, money, secure documents, and even dangerous infrastructure are ideal for the Sequence Lock feature.
Make Them Wait
Can you guess what the Delay Lock feature is…we’re waiting!? That’s right, you can schedule a delayed opening after the CLIQ key is revalidated. This feature adds a level of security that can help protect valuables stored in a room, safe, or vault.
Retail and convenience settings are great CLIQ Delay Lock applications. In these settings, the Delay Lock feature puts 15 minutes in between revalidation and any criminal activity accessing valuable assets. That’s typically an eternity for a criminal looking for a quick score.
Real-Time Privilege Control
Occasionally, you’ll be in a situation where you have to grant or revoke access to an opening on the fly. When a user has their access capabilities stripped or when a key is lost, the CLIQ Online Open feature is the fail-safe to ensure the opening is secure.
When inserted into a lock, the CLIQ key communicates with the CLIQ Connect app (which is downloaded and opened on the user’s mobile phone) to ensure the user still has access rights to unlock that opening.
If an employee becomes a security risk, or maybe new materials are now being stored in a room that not every employee should have access to, you can quickly and easily update the access privileges on the CLIQ Connect app. Once access has been revoked, the next time the user syncs the app with the key, their access will be denied. You can revoke everyone’s access to openings with the Online Open feature as well.
Whether it’s people you’re trying to secure, money, chemicals, or other materials, consider one of these new CLIQ features when choosing your locking solution. To learn more about CLIQ, be sure to swing by the CLIQ home page.
