About Medeco 4

M4 High Security cylinders are Grade 1 certified, UL 437 listed for physical strength and high security components, and stand up to drilling, picking, and other forms of attack. They also offer utility patented key control, which provides protection against unauthorized key duplication. M4 cylinders also meet or exceed BHMA A156.30 criteria for strength and durability, key control, and surreptitious entry resistance.

In addition to tumbler pins that lift and rotate, M4’s design includes 4 side pins: 3 finger pins and 1 lift pin. The lift pin is activated by contact with the movable element in the key, providing a high level of key duplication integrity and help preventing duplication from 3D printing.

Multiple Levels of Security

The Medeco 4 (M4) key system enables facilities to have a combination of high-security cylinders and cost-efficient cylinders all on the same key system. M4 BiLevel cylinders offer affordable key control through patent-pending keys, without enhanced UL437 attack resistance, which keeps costs lower for high-security features that may not be needed for certain openings.

Medeco 4 Keys

M4 keys also feature angled, offset cuts on the key blade and unique keyway pre-cuts. A special key cutting machine and access to Medeco-specific blanks are required to duplicate M4 keys.
