With easy installation and privacy assurance in mind, Arrow offers three lines of status indicators: the E Series Deadbolt, the Retrofit Indicator Kits for Best and Schlage Mortise Locks, and the APL Series Cylindrical Indicator lock. But what’s the difference between each offering?
E Series Status Indicator Deadbolt
Arrow offers the industry’s first occupancy indicator with visual indicators on BOTH the inside and outside of the door for ultimate privacy, provided as part of the standard product offering.
The E Series features multiple indicator windows per side for maximum clarity, an oversized thumbturn for ease of use, and field reversible handing for easy installation.
Typically, the E Series Deadbolt is used for restrooms, quiet rooms, and nursing rooms in virtually any commercial, office, or healthcare facility, as well as fitting rooms in retail spaces.

Retrofit Indicator Kits for Schlage® & Best® Mortise Locks
Seamlessly upgrade existing Best® or Schlage® sectional trim mortise locks with our high-visibility, easy-to-install status indicator kits.
These indicators offer large visibility windows for added security and privacy and can be used on the inside, outside, or both sides of the door. The retrofit kits come with an easy-to-use template to simplify field upgrades, bringing value to any mortise lock upgrade project.
Arrow’s retrofit kits are usually used in upgrade projects for classroom doors, privacy rooms, nursing/new mother rooms, patient rooms, restrooms, and meeting rooms in any commercial facility that were previously outfitted with Best® or Schlage® hardware.

APL Series Cylindrical Indicator Lock
Arrow’s newest offering, the APL Series Cylindrical Indicator Lock, includes a visual reference whether the door is locked or unlocked—eliminating potentially embarrassing situations and providing peace of mind.
The cylindrical indicator lock is a low-profile indicator option, available in Privacy Function (F76A) with automatic release, is suited for 1- ¾” standard door thickness, and has an optional kit for thin 1- 3/8 ” thickness doors.
As one of the most versatile indicators in the suite, the cylindrical indicator is typically used in commercial, educational, healthcare, and retail spaces. It is ideal for use in office buildings, restaurants, schools, hospitals, warehouses, airports, convenience stores, and gas stations.
